    NC Elite soccer tryouts

    There are tryouts at Dean Watts Park for the Nelson County Soccer Club elite U16 and U17 boys teams, coached by Kelly Harrison, at Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. Call (502) 794-7648 with questions.

    Donkey Basketball

    Nelson County High School is hosting the Buckeye Donkey Ball Donkeys for a game 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the NCHS gym. Local law enforcement, community leaders and teachers will be participating. Free donkey rides are available for children. Cost is $6 in advance or $8 at the gate. Proceeds benefit the NCHS girls’ basketball program. Call 349-7010 for more information.

    6th Grade Basketball tournament

    Mud volleyball tournament

    There is a co-ed mud volleyball tournament Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Culvertown Ballpark in conjunction with the Culvertown Homecoming Day. Signups are 10:30 a.m. with play to start at 11. Cost is $100 per team. Call 549-3451 with questions. There will also be a powerwheel demolition derby for kids 10 and under at 1 p.m.

    There is a golf scramble Saturday at Woodlawn Springs to benefit the Bardstown High School boys’ and girls’ basketball programs. Registration is 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8. Cost is $50 per player or $200 for a four-person team. Hole sponsorships are available for $100. Lunch is provided. To register or for questions, call (502) 331-8802 or (502) 249-0199. Registration closes Wednesday.

    Travel baseball tryouts

    The U8 and U9 Nelson County Sliders competitive baseball teams are holding tryouts Saturday at Dean Watts Park from 8 a.m. – noon. Players can not turn 10 years old before May 1, 2016, to qualify. For more information, contact jmouser007@gmail.com.
