  • Loose horse causes crash

    A horse running loose on Louisville Road was struck and killed early Sunday morning, injuring two drivers in the process. The accident occurred around 5 a.m. in the 11000 block, according to a press release from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.

    Patrick Briney, of Bardstown, was traveling south when he struck the horse, knocking it into the other lane of travel and killing it. Charles Shively, of Lebanon, was traveling north and did not see the dead horse in the roadway in time to avoid striking it. The impact caused Shively’s vehicle to overturn.

  • NCSO’s third Citizens Police Academy about to begin

    Judy Cederholm had her cell phone ready to call 911 when the deputy sheriff she was riding with got out of a patrol car and approached the car in front of them.

    “It was a nasty, rainy night,” she said, and the car had been going slow and weaving when it stopped near Fairfield.

    “My heart just flipped,” she said.

    The officer was out there in the rain all alone, and she was alone in the car.

    “It was hard to see” what was happening, she said.

  • Four arrested last week in separate Task Force busts

    Four people were arrested last week on drug charges after the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force raided three residences.

    Randy Cooper, 33, was arrested Wednesday for possession of and trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a search warrant was executed at 103 Purcell Ave. Detectives found a large amount of cash, more than eight ounces of marijuana in bags, pipes and other paraphernalia.
