  • Bardstown man dies in head-on collision in Taylor County

    TAYLOR COUNTY — A Bardstown man died Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle head-on collision at Finley Ridge Road and East U.S. 68 in Taylor County.

    According to a report from the Taylor County Sheriff’s office, James B. Loy, 33, Bradfordsville, was traveling east on U.S. 68 at 5:36 p.m. when he noticed a pickup truck in front of him with its left turn signal on.

  • Four charged with trafficking heroin

    Four Nelson County men were indicted in Nelson Circuit Court Wednesday for trafficking in heroin, tampering with physical evidence and other charges.

  • Police, citizens chase down alleged car thief

    After a foot chase through downtown Bardstown, police arrested Brandon Michael Board, 20, Bardstown, for allegedly stealing a car Wednesday, less than 15 hours after Board had been let out of Nelson County Jail on bond.

    Several citizens aided three Bardstown Police officers in surrounding Board in the Don Harned Little League Baseball Field behind Bardstown City Hall, police Chief Rick McCubbin said.

  • Bardstown man arrested for burglary

    Bardstown Police tased and arrested a man suspected in the burglary of a Bardstown business early Saturday morning after the man allegedly assaulted a police officer then fled on foot.

    Brandon Michael Board, 20, was charged with two counts of third-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree burglary, fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest and giving an officer a false name or address when he was lodged in Nelson County Jail at 4:53 a.m. Saturday.

  • Two injured in explosions over July 4th weekend

    Two people suffered significant injuries from explosive devices during the Independence Day weekend, according to Nelson County EMS Director Joe Prewitt.

    Zack Bagwell, 25, Boston, was transported to University Hospital Sunday afternoon after losing at least one finger in an explosion near the Beech Fork River in the Boston area. The Boston Fire Department and EMS met Bagwell at Rust Funeral Home.

    “He had totally lost one finger on his right hand and partial dismemberment on the other one,” Boston Fire Chief Tim Vittitow said.

  • Two injured in Bloomfield Rd. collision

    Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon.

    Vickie Fraser, 52, Bardstown, and a passenger, David Fraser, 57, Bardstown, were transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital by Nelson County EMS for injuries sustained after their vehicle was struck from behind by a car driven by Erica L. Groves, 19, Bloomfield.

  • Driver, passenger injured in accident

    Two were injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon.

    Vickie Fraser, 52, Bardstown and a passenger, David Fraser, 57, Bardstown were transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital by Nelson County E.M.S. for injuries sustained after their vehicle was struck from behind by a car driven by Erica L Groves, 19, Bloomfield.

    In a report made by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Department, Vickie Fraser and David Fraser were making a left turn onto Houck Street from Bloomfield Road when Groves did not notice the vehicle slowing down to turn.

  • Police find suspects in BB gun shootings

    Bardstown Police believe they have identified three suspects involved in a string of criminal mischief complaints in which the windows of at least two Bardstown businesses and several vehicles were shot with a BB or pellet gun last week.

    Two juvenile males and one adult male have been questioned in the incident and, according to a Bardstown Police Department press release, the three have admitted to their involvement. An investigation into the complaints also recovered two CO2 BB pistols that were allegedly used by the suspects.
