  • Kraeszig sworn in as new chief of Bardstown Police

    Bardstown’s new police chief, Kimberly Kraeszig, made a promise Tuesday, that she would restore faith in the leadership of the Police Department.

    “I’m going to respect each and every one of you and work on building that trust that has been lost in the eyes of some of our community members … and build those bridges” between the police and the people, she said.

    She spoke of an “unyielding desire” to make the police force better and the city safer.

  • FOUND SAFE: Former Bardstown man reported missing to LMPD

    UPDATE: Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 — Jeffires was located safe.

    A missing persons report has been filed with the Louisville Metro Police Department for a former Bardstown man.

    An officer with LMPD confirmed that she had taken a report from family earlier in the day Wednesday.

    The report was filed for David Shaun Jeffires. Jeffires is described as a 36-year-old white male with blue eyes, short brown hair and facial hair. He is 5' 10'' and 180 pounds.

  • Bardstown Police Department has a new chief

    Bardstown’s new police chief was recently the third in command of the state’s largest municipal force.

    Following a short closed session of the City Council Tuesday night, Mayor Dick Heaton announced that the city’s new chief of police will be Kimberly M. Kraeszig, the recently retired assistant chief of the Louisville Metro Police Department.

    A 23-year veteran of that department, Kraeszig rose through the ranks to be the No. 3 administrator, responsible for eight divisions, 950 officers and half of the department’s $180 million budget.

    Sheriff’s deputies said the driver of this car escaped with only a “bump on the head” and could have been killed after a tree that blew down in a Friday morning storm fell across the driver side of her car on Pottershop Road.
