  • Nelson County grand jury indictments from July 18

    Note: The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

    The following people have been indicted by a Nelson County grand jury and most had arraignments set for Aug. 2.

  • Royalty reaches deal with prosecutors

    Former Bardstown Mayor John Royalty reached a potential agreement with prosecutors Friday that included that he not run for public office again for five years and he drop his lawsuit against the city.

    In exchange, the commonwealth’s attorney would defer prosecuting him on a felony perjury indictment and other misdemeanors related to his time in office. The city also agreed to drop its suit against the former mayor.

  • Nelson Circuit Court sentencings from June

    The following people were sentenced recently in Nelson Circuit Court. All had previously entered a plea of guilty or had been found guilty during a trial.

    Shannon Davis, 44, of Bardstown, was sentenced to two years in prison for two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and 12 months in jail for two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Sentences shall be served concurrently and concurrently with another court case. Davis was granted probation for a period of five years following set conditions, including no new offenses.
