• Case against Bloomfield man dismissed in court

    A case involving an abuse charge previously issued against a Bloomfield man has been dismissed. The case against Ethan Tingle, who police had charged with criminal abuse in April following a call from hospital doctors regarding a child injured in a fall, was dismissed without prejudice according to a document filed in court Wednesday morning. County Attorney Matthew Hite said an expert from another hospital later indicated the injuries were consistent with what Tingle said had happened.

  • Roberts trial likely to see delay again as special prosecutor takes over

    Closure for Rasheed Wickliffe’s family will likely be delayed again along with the trial of his accused killer.

    The Kentucky Attorney General’s office is taking over prosecution of the case after Commonwealth’s Attorney Terry Geoghegan recused his office because of a potential conflict that arose recently.

    “In our hearts, we just feel like it is starting over again,” said the Rev. Monica Mitchell, Wickliffe’s aunt and spokesperson for the family.

  • Four indicted for murder

    The four people accused in the killing of a Bardstown teenager earlier this week could potentially face the death penalty after a Nelson County grand jury returned four indictments for murder and other charges.

    The grand jury Wednesday returned indictments of one count of murder, one count of complicity to murder, one count of first-degree robbery and one count of complicity to first-degree robbery on each of the four suspects, Shelmontay Adams, Damion Murphy, Alexis Gribbins and Torique Griffin.

  • Inmate accused of rape while on work release

    UPDATE: The rape charge against Joseph C. Redmon has been ammended down to fourht-degree assault domestic violence. County Attorney Matthew Hite, according to documents filed in the case, recommended the amended charge because the alleged victim in the case indicated she would not cooperate in the prosecution. With the amended charge, Redmon was given 365 days in jail, which would be conditionally discharged for two years after serving 90 days. He is to have no unlawful contact with the victim.
