Firefighters from Northeast Nelson Fire battled a structure fire in the 7000 block of Plum Run Road Saturday morning, but the structure was a total loss.
Saturday blaze destroys home

A home that was a converted dairy barn on Plum Run Road in Bloomfield caught fire Saturday morning and was a total loss.

Northeast Nelson Fire was dispatched to 7309 Plum Run at 10:03 a.m. and the first crew arrived at 10:15.

Northeast Assistant Chief Scott Thompson was among the first crew to arrive and he said by the time they got there it was about 50 percent engulfed and was soon out of control. The dark plume of smoke from the fire was visible miles away in the clear morning Saturday.
