  • Anne Elizabeth Evans, 80

    Anne Elizabeth Evans, 80, Bardstown, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. She was the former Anne Elizabeth Lewis, a native of Nelson County, a retired domestic worker and had cared for numerous children in her lifetime. She was a faithful member of St. Monica Catholic Church and a homemaker.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Tennessee Tom” Evans; her parents, Albert and Elizabeth Wilson Lewis; and a brother, Albert “Sonny” Lewis.

  • Sister Mary Loretta Polaski, SCN, 92

    Sister Mary Loretta Polaski, SCN, 92, a native of Donora, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Lourdes Hall, Pittsburgh, Pa.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Vargo Polaski.

    The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at St. Louise Convent Chapel, Pittsburgh, followed by burial in St. Louise Convent Cemetery.

    Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Louise Convent, 8200 McKnight Road, Pittsburgh,  and 8;30-10:30 a.m. Thursday.

    Christine Ellen Price, 89, Bardstown, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at University of Louisville Hospital. She was the former Christine Ellen Smith, a native of Nelson County, a homemaker, and was of the Baptist faith.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Price; a daughter; Sharon Price; her parents, John and Hester Waldridge Smith; three sisters, Mazetta Hardin, Lil Janes, Gertrude Smith-Young; and four brothers, Everett Smith, Gilbert “Red” Smith, Robert Smith, and Donnie “Q-Ball” Smith.

    Mary Helen Newton Smith, 97, Springfield, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. 

    She was preceded in death by her parents, John Francis and Georgia Osborn Newton.

    Survivors include six sons, Earl Smith, Greenwood, Ind., Jim Smith, Roy Smith and Dave Smith, all of Springfield, Coy Smith and Steven Smith, both of Bardstown; four daughters, Georgia Curl, Shelbyville, Martha Ann Hardin, Springfield, Sarah Just, Louisville, and Mae Green, Versailles.

    Granville E. "Bill" Kitchen, 87, Christiansburg, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Hattie Counts Kitchen. 

    Survivors include his wife of more than 65 years, the former Anna M. Miller; and a son, Jon M. Kitchen, Clarksville, Ind.;

    Fredrick Reed Bowman, infant son of Jeremy Daniel and Dr. Mikki Jo Leathers Bowman died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012.

    He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Elmer and Mickey George, Fred and Jo Leathers, Garnett Bowman and Herbert Gaddis Jr.

    Frances Edith Dragoo, 87, Bardstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital.  She was born March 17, 1924, in Nelson County and was a member of St. Joseph Parish.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Francis Dragoo; a daughter, Cathy Dragoo; her parents, James Ivo and Mary Emma Avis Bartley; a brother, James Ivo Bartley Jr.; and a sister, Margaret Ann Whitson.

  • Agnes Marie Wheatley Hutchins, 85

    Agnes Marie Wheatley Hutchins, 85, Loretto died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at her home with family by her side. She was born June 28, 1926, in Nelson County. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

    After leaving Cowdens Sewing Factory, she worked many years with her dear friend, Imelda Hagan, sewing for Loretto Crafts, supplying to the Kentucky State Parks. The past 18 years she donated many hours of her time managing the Loretto Food Bank and helping needy families. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
