    She is preceded in death by her parents, William Bernard and Clara Isabel Browning Higdon; three sisters, Clara Cecilia Higdon, Mary Catherine Higdon, and Elizabeth Jane Higdon; four brothers, William Bernard Higdon, Joseph David Higdon, Thomas Theodore Higdon, and Joseph Raymond Higdon.

    Lucibelle Allen “Lucy” Geoghegan, 84, Bardstown, died, Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the University of Louisville Hospital.  She was born Nov. 14, 1927, in Nelson County, a homemaker, a member of Botland Homemakers Club, Genealogical Roundtable, Nelson County Historical Society, and Botland Christian Church.

    She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Michael Geoghegan; and her parents, Arthur and Mildred Allen.

    Quinn Grant, 63, Hodgenville, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville. He was born April 24, 1948. He was a member of Hodgenville Pentacostal Church, Hodgenville. He was retired owner/operator of Grant’s Appliance, Hodgenville for several years with his wife.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodruff Logan and Lucille Janes Grant.

    Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Joyce Marie Underwood Grant; two sons, Greg Grant and Bryan Grant, both of Hodgenville; a daughter, Quintina “Buffy” Gowen, Hodgenville.

    Dolores Jean St. Clair Ramsey, 61, Overland Park, Kan., died Tuesday, March 7, 2012, at her home after a four-year battle with cancer.  She was known by all who loved her as “DoDo”. She was born Jan. 29, 1951, in Cox’s Creek.

    She was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Englebrick; her mother, Myrtle Welch St. Clair; two brothers, David St. Clair and Mack St. Clair; and a sister, Verna Faye St. Clair.

    Sarah Alice Ward, 91, known affectionately as “Mer”, True, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 24, 1920, in Bardstown. She was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and loved attending as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking for her family, canning, raising chickens, and attending her grandchildren’s school activities.

    Joseph Herman “Joe” Clark, 87, Bardstown, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at his home.

    Born January 15, 1925 in Holy Cross, he was a retired employee of International Harvester in Louisville and a retired Farmer. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 121 in Bardstown and VFW Post 5710 in Shepherdsville.  He volunteered for many years at St. Vincent de Paul Mission Store in Bardstown.

    Ruby B. Cornish, 95, Mount Eden, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Masonic Home of Shelbyville. She was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Anderson County. She was a homemaker, and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Mt. Eden.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Callie Cornish; a brother, Damon Wilson; and a sister, Bonnie Froman.

  • John Bernard Werkman Jr., 96

    John Bernard Werkman Jr., 96, Louisville, died Monday, March 5, 2012, in Bardstown.

    He was a long time member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, the German-American Club, the Serra Club and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. He was a retired Lt. Colonel in the United States Army, serving from 1940 to 1975.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Lillian Marie Whaler Werkman; his parents, John B., Sr. and Catherine Lauer Werkman; and a sister Dorothy Werkman Wagoner.

    Herbert Eugene “Gene” Simpson, 78, Chaplin, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at his residence. He was a retired farmer and part owner of Simpson Brothers Construction and a member of Chaplin Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sherwood and Vangie Hawkins Simpson; four brothers, John Simpson, James E. Simpson, Woodrow Simpson and Kenneth Simpson; and three sisters, Buelah Mae Colvin, Dorothy Carney and Mary Katherine Carney.
