WRESTLING: Short stay at state meet for local wrestlers

LEXINGTON — Area wrestlers had a rough time at this weekend’s KHSAA State Wrestling Championships at Kentucky Horse Park, with just one of the four entrants making it into Saturday morning before being eliminated.

Nelson County’s Ben Lanham (22-7), making his second trip to state, picked up a first-round win in the 182-pound bracket Friday, scoring a first-period pin over Madison Southern’s Caleb Stone in a matchup of ranked opponents.
