  • LOUSIVILLE, Ky. (KT) – The Blue Hats in the Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief team bound for New England this weekend were born for this.

  • The biblical account of David and Goliath is one of the most popular stories from the Bible. You remember that Israel and the Philistines were enemies as this true account finds them preparing for battle, but they also were in something of a strange standoff.

  • Do you know why they closed the restaurant on the moon? It had no atmosphere.

What do you call a fake noodle? An impasta.

Why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field.

Those are just some of the many jokes I’ve received over the years that have never found their way into this column. Not that they’re bad. Well, OK, they are bad.

  • I have thought about why many Christians, including myself, so often struggle in a lukewarm state of mind much more than we should. To say the least, there are several reasons, but actually these are not considered justifiable excuses.

  • Be the Man Conference at First Baptist

  • An elderly woman called her daughter who lives out-of-state and delivered the news: “I hate to interrupt your day, but I need to tell you that your Dad and I are getting a divorce. After 51 years, I’ve had all I can take, and I can’t take no more.”

    “But, Mom,” the daughter began.

“No ‘buts’ about it,” Mom said. “We’re sick of each other, and I’m sick of talking about this, so you call your brother and tell him.”

  • Bardstown United Methodist Church

Bardstown United Methodist Church’s usual Sunday services will be combined and meet at the church’s Second Campus (5100 Louisville Road) at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16.

    Dominican ‘Come and See’ weekend

  • I had a serious conversation the other day with a middle-aged man, and we talked for a couple of hours about God. I’ve known him for years, and we’ve had these discussions before, but I noticed he has become stronger in his opinions, which by the way, are based on atheism.

  • Memories can be a wonderful place to visit when they are pleasant and filled with peace and joy. On the other hand, not all of our experiences have been good and can be more like a haunted house on a dark and stormy night. We all have our collections of thoughts and our own task of trying to figure out a way to deal with them. As most of us know, there are positive ways and negative ways to handle our past experiences. We can look around and see that many people are not doing such a good job when it comes to emotional management.
