• Engagement: Bowling, Kremser

     Paul and Stacy Bowling, of Bardstown, announce the engagement of their daughter, Samantha Bowling, to Victor Kremser, son of Wolfgang and Betty Kremser, of Cologne, Germany.

    The couple attend Morehead State University.

    The bride-elect is in nursing school and the groom-elect is pursuing a degree in biology.

  • Wedding: Goss-Humes

    Thomas and Linda Goss, of Missouri, announce the marriage of their daughter, Crystal Rose Goss, to James Logan Humes, of Chaplin, the son of Kevin Humes and Diane Case. 

    They were married on March 28 at Innsbrook Resort in Missouri.

    The Rev. William Humes of Pennsylvania, uncle of the groom, performed a double-ring ceremony.

    The maid of honor was Bridget White.

    Virginia Sympson celebrated her 90th birthday March 3 with 151 descendants and five generations of 15 children, 45 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

  • Local dance student lands role in the Nutcracker

    Taylor Edelen, daughter of Rob and Kim Edelen, accepted the role of the Snow Queen in Hardin County’s production of the Nutcracker. This is significant because it is the lead student role and Taylor has strived to achieve this role for years. She is currently a student at The Dance Centre of Elizabethtown. She has been studying ballet and jazz for almost twelve years. She will also be dancing as the Ballerina Doll and in the Waltz of the Flowers.

  • Bardstown native serves with a Navy maritime patrol squadron

    A 2004 Nelson County High School graduate and Bardstown native is serving with Patrol Squadron Sixteen (VP-16), also known as the “War Eagles.”

    Lt. Kelly Wehle is a naval flight officer with VP-16, a Jacksonville-based squadron that operates the Navy’s newly-designed maritime patrol aircraft, the P-8A Poseidon. Each aircraft has an aircrew of nine, is nearly 130 feet long, may weigh up to 188,200 lbs. (max gross) and can travel over 560 miles per hour and nearly 1,380 miles on a tank of gas.

    Lexi Grace Wimsett-Sheckles, 16-month old daughter of Whitney Wimsett and Brant Sheckles, of Bardstown ,competed in the 2014 Kentucky Festivals State Pageant held in Lexington on Nov. 21 at the Hyatt Regency. Wimsett-Sheckles was crowned Toddler Miss Kentucky and Prettiest Eyes. Each contestant was judged on natural beauty, stage presence, confidence and overall appearance of dress. She will now represent Kentucky at the AmeriFest National Pageant in Nashville, Tenn. July 24-26, 2015.

    Johnathan and Chasity Renfro, of Bardstown, announce the birth of a son, Brantley A., Nov. 6, 2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20-3/4 inches long.

    Maternal grandmother is Sheila Smith, of Bardstown. Paternal grandparents are Catherine Barnett, of Louisville, and John Renfro, of Loretto.

    Great-grandparents are Mary Murphy, of Lebanon, Edward Smith, of Springfield, and Barry and Mary Grant, of Florida.

    The baby was welcomed home by a brother, Braxton, 2.

  • Birth: Kinniard

    Susie and Cliff Kinniard, of Louisville, announce the birth of a son, Clayton Scotland, Nov. 23, 2014, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Beth and Jay Jordan, Chris and Jeni Pardieu, all of Bardstown.

    Paternal grandparents are Cliff and Dorothy Kinniard.

    The baby was welcomed home by two brothers, Carson, 4, Camden, 1 and a sister, Cheyanne, 1.

    Leslie and Jimmy Yates, of Springfield, announce the birth of a son, Levi Joseph, Nov. 4, 2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Tony and Rhonda Davenport, of Bardstown.

    Paternal grandparents are Frankie and Janice Yates, of Bardstown.

    Great-grandparents are Evelyn Hamlin, of Shepherdsville, and Butch and Reba Corder, Leander, Texas.

    The baby was welcomed home by a brother, Jeremiah, 4.
