Two men were injured and the driver faces DUI charges after an accident Monday night on the Bluegrass Parkway.

According to a collision report from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Brian N. Conner, 44, of Philpot, was driving a 1997 Ford F150 westbound on the parkway near the 17-mile marker when he lost control of the vehicle.

Conner crossed the left lane of travel, striking the face of the Rolling Fork Bridge with the front of his vehicle. He then crossed back into the right lane of travel, overcorrected, crossed over to the left lane and struck the bridge face a second time. The vehicle came to a final rest facing north in both lanes.

Nelson County Fire and Rescue and Nelson County EMS responded to the scene. Conner was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital for facial injuries. A passenger in the car, William M. Boehman, of Lewisport, also suffered injuries to his face and arms, and was transported to Flaget.

According to the collision report, seat belts were not in use, and Conner faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants.
