A late night Thanksgiving car accident sent four people to two separate hospitals according to a press release from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the release, Nelson County sheriff's deputies received a call of a car accident near the 2500 block of Howardstown Road in New Haven at about 10:15 p.m.

After locating the vehicle, the police determined that the car was traveling northbound on the road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees. Two people had to be extricated from the car by Nelson County EMS and the Rolling Fork Fire Department. Two occupants were transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital and two others were taken to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The Sheriff’s Office determined that speed and failure to wear a seat belt were factors in the accident and the injuries.
