A Bardstown man was arrested Tuesday after he reportedly test drove a vehicle and never returned.

According to a Bardstown Police press release, Cody R. Hendrickson, 29, test drove a 2000 Chevy Impala from Poor Boys Auto Sales earlier this month and never returned it. The car was reported stolen Sept. 16.

According to the release, Officer Kyler Wright, while on patrol, observed Hendrickson standing in a yard in front of the vehicle around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Wright verified the vehicle had been stolen and located personal items of Hendrickson’s throughout the car. Wright also located a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, according to the release.

The recovered vehicle was returned to Poor Boys Auto Sales and Hendrickson was lodged in the Nelson County Jail and charged with theft by unlawful taking of an automobile, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The investigation is continuing and those with any information are asked to contact Bardstown Police Department at (502) 348-6811 or Nelson County Dispatch at (502) 348-3211.
