Piano concert

Greg Partain of Transylvania University will give a piano concert at Loretto Motherhouse at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. He will play works by Schumann, Bach, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev. All are welcome. Admission is free.

Van Buren Baptist Church homecoming

Van Buren Baptist Church homecoming will be Sunday, Sept. 17. Members, former members, former pastors and the community are invited for an afternoon of fellowship, praise and worship. Morning worship will be at 11 a.m. with a fellowship meal at 12:30 p.m. Bring a dish. The church will provide meat and drinks. Kentucky State Rep. Brandon Reed will preach at 1:30 p.m. Various soloist will sing. The church is at 1488 Fairmont Road in Lawrenceburg, on Ky. 3358, off U.S. 248 and U.S. 62 — minutes from Chaplin and about 15 miles from Taylorsville.

Bardstown Baptist Church Homecoming Celebration

Bardstown Baptist Church has a month-long homecoming celebration in September with former pastors returning to the pulpit. Dr. Randall Pollack, current pastor, will preach at both services Sept. 17. Sept. 24, Dr. Warner Smith will be filling the pulpit at 10:30 a.m. for one service, followed by a meal in Fellowship Hall. Smith served as pastor from 1998-2004. He and his wife reside in Collinsville, Ala., where he is a high school teacher and coach. The congregation invites former members and the public to attend and worship at these services.
