Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration

The Concerned Parents of Nelson County, in conjunction with the Nelson County Chapter of the NAACP, will host this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration at noon Monday, Jan. 15, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 407 S. Third St. in Bardstown. The keynote message this year will be brought by Father John Judie, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Christ the King Catholic Church in Louisville. Father Judie was a former pastor of St. Monica Parish. There will be music by the community choir, the presentation of the Human Rights Commission’s Student Essay winners, and the presentation of the annual community service award. Refreshments will be served after the program in the cafeteria, and everyone is welcome.

Loretto Motherhouse organ recital

An organ recital with Sandro Silva and guest singer Mezzo Soprano Margareth Miguel is 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Loretto Motherhouse. The Brazilian organist will perform works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Preston and other composers.

First Baptist Church food pantry

First Baptist Church of Bardstown food pantry is open every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon.
