Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration

The Concerned Parents of Nelson County in conjunction with the Nelson County Chapter of the NAACP will host this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration at noon Monday, Jan. 15, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 407 S. Third St. in Bardstown. The keynote message this year will be brought by Father John Judie, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Christ the King Catholic Church in Louisville. Father Judie was a former pastor of St. Monica Parish. There will be music by the community choir, the presentation of the Human Rights Commission’s Student Essay Contest winners, and presentation of the annual community service award. Refreshments will be served after the program in the cafeteria and everyone is welcome.

Bardstown Community Bible Study Women’s Day Class

Bardstown Community Bible Study Women’s Day Class will be 9:15-11:15 a.m. Thursdays at Parkway Baptist Church. This 12-week Christian Leadership study begins Jan. 18 and includes the books of 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus. Community Bible Study is a non-denominational study who meet to be united in God’s word. There is a children’s program for infants through 4 year olds and a teen program for high school aged children available. At the present time, there is a waiting list for the youth program, which includes kindergarten-eighth grade aged children. First Baptist Church of Bardstown food pantry is open every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon.
