A local woman is seeking answers and urging pet owners to use caution after her dogs were found shot dead and covered with a blanket in Bloomfield on Saturday.

Megan Johnson, who lives off Thomas Lane, said her two dogs, 2-year-old sisters Peaches and Muffin, went missing from her home early Tuesday morning after running into a wooded area on her property.

“I let them out like the normal routine,” Johnson said. “They didn’t roam free. The only time they went out was if me and my husband went out.”
