Local law enforcement officers assisted in a drug bust Monday that led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man.

According to a press release from the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force, Nelson County Sheriff’s deputies and Bardstown Police Department’s K9 unit assisted the task force in a meth investigation on Monday.

Around quarter pound of crystal meth — with a street value of $11,000 — was recovered from the vehicle of Eric Scott Keeling.

Officers also seized a fully loaded SKS rifle, two loaded handguns and about $800 in cash from the vehicle. One of the handguns had been reported stolen.

Keeling was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property and knowingly/fraudulently using an ID card or elect code for benefits.

According to arrest records, Keeling had been granted a two-year conditional discharge in February of last year for taking a vehicle that was seized at the impound lot.

Additional suspects are expected to be charged as the investigation continues. Anyone with information on drug activity is urged to contact the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force at (270) 769-0694. Callers remain anonymous.
