UPDATE Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, 10:01 a.m. -- John Jackson, 30, of New Haven, was pronounced dead after he was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital Wednesday night following a collision with a combine on Boston Road.

Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11:22 p.m. -- A man was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital after a pickup truck he was driving collided with a combine.

According to Sgt. Mike Clark of the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, the injured man was traveling eastbound in a red pickup truck on Boston Road when it collided with a combine traveling westbound. One of the front wheels of the combine were sticking over the yellow dividing line. The driver was unable to avoid striking the combine.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Boston and Airport roads. First responders were dispatched at approximately 9:10 p.m.

After being extracted from his vehicle, the man was transported to University Hospital via Air Methods. His injuries are unknown at this time.

The collision caused corn to be spilled over the roadway, which was cleaned up by personnel on scene.

Clark said motorists need to be observant of farm machinery in the roadway especially during the harvest season.
