Man facing burglary, assault charges after injuring couple

A Bardstown man was arrested Friday and faces burglary, assault and criminal mischief charges after entering a woman’s home and injuring her husband.

According to a uniform citation from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call that Jackie R. Day Jr., 47, had broken into a home of an acquaintance around 3:30 Friday afternoon.

According to the citation, when the homeowner opened the door, Day pushed past her, went to the back bedroom and assaulted her husband, leaving marks on the man’s chin, and a busted lip. The woman was also injured, with a mark on her back and a swollen knee.

Day is also accused of breaking stereo equipment in the home during the incident.
