Man arrested when marijuana, cash found in pants

A 28-year-old Bardstown Man was jailed Thursday afternoon after a traffic stop revealed him to be in possession of drugs.

According to a press release from the Bardstown Police Department, John C. Lewis was stopped at around 12:55 p.m. on Honeysuckle lane for a traffic offense.

Officer Kyler Wright obtained consent to search Lewis’ vehicle and detected the odor of marijuana.

Lewis reportedly had baggies of marijuana and about $3,600 in cash “hidden in his crotch area of his clothing,” according to the release.

Lewis was arrested, and prior to being taken to the Nelson County Jail, was allegedly warned about promoting contraband. Lewis reportedly denied having narcotics on his person, but a detailed search revealed he had two bags of cocaine.

Lewis is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana, promoting contraband, tampering with physical evidence and a traffic violation.
