Man arrested after Wednesday stabbing

UPDATE: Joshua P. Roberts has been indicted by a Grand Jury on one count of first-degree assault in the stabbing of Mitchell Ramsey. The indictment was filed in open court May 4. Roberts' bail was set at $25,000 cash only, plus conditions and his arraignment is scheduled for May 19.

Bardstown Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred Wednesday on Cleo Drive as the result of an altercation.

According to a uniform citation from the Police Department, officers received a call about a stabbing at the residence around 11 p.m. Wednesday and made contact with Joshua P. Roberts, 24, who later confessed to stabbing a man in the stomach.

Roberts and the victim had reportedly had an altercation, leading Roberts to stab the man in the stomach with a kitchen knife.

According to arrest records, the wound was several inches deep and the victim was transported to Louisville for care.

According to the citation, witness and victim statements were consistent that the victim had confronted Roberts about a mess in the kitchen.

Roberts was arrested on a charge of first-degree assault.

Roberts has a criminal history in Nelson County including DUI, possession of marijuana, and several traffic violations, but no listed violent crimes.
