Home prices rising faster, houses selling quicker in local housing market

-A A +A

Homes are selling faster and for more money than just one year ago in the local housing market, outpacing a statewide trend of rising home prices.

But despite a seller’s market, the number of homes up for sale remains tight.

Homeowners closed on two fewer homes in 2018 than the year prior — 649 compared to 651 in 2017, according to Peggy Smith, executive of Old Kentucky Home Board of Realtors, which covers Nelson, Washington, Marion, LaRue and Hart counties.
