Flood advisory for Nelson lifted

Severe thunderstorm warning ended 2:45 p.m. April 4

A flood advisory for Nelson County expired about 6:15 p.m. April 4.

A hazardous weather outlook warned of possible gusts of wind up to 45 mph into the evening. 

According to the website of the National Weather Service in Louisville, one inch of rain had fallen in areas of central Kentucky as of 4:12 p.m., with an additional 1-2 inches possible in Bardstown, Springfield and Liberty. The result may be minor street flooding in larger towns and low-lying areas. 

The flood advisory followed a severe thunderstorm warning issued by the National Weather Service in Louisville at 2:18 p.m. April 4, which expired at 2:45 p.m.

"The storms that prompted the warning have weakened and are no longer severe. However strong storms remain in the area. These are capable of producing periods of heavy rain," the National Weather Service's website reported.
