A fatal car wreck occurred at the 15-mile marker eastbound on Bluegrass Parkway Thursday shortly before 4:30 p.m. The Nelson County Sheriff's Office, the Bardstown Fire Department and Nelson County EMS were dispatched to the scene at 4:26 p.m., according to dispatch logs.

Sadie Michelle Jackson, 25, of Bardstown, was traveling eastbound when she lost control of her 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and hit a guard rail, according to police. Jackson's vehicle spun out of control before it hit a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Harold Elliston of Williamstown. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. Police say Jackson's vehicle came to a stop in the median and Elliston's vehicle came to a stop at the emergency lane.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Nelson County Coroner. Elliston, 80, sustained leg and chest injuries and was transported to Flaget Hospital via EMS. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Traffic traveling eastbound on the parkway was backed up for about an hour as first responders worked the scene. The collision scene was clear at about 6:30 p.m.

This is the third car-related fatality to occur in Nelson County in the past seven days.  The first accident occurred last Friday near Bloomfield on Springfield Road. William Sympson, of Springfield, died Monday due to injuries sustained in that two-car collision wreck. The second accident occurred on Wilson Creek Road in Boston on Wednesday.  Cody Thompson, 21, of Elizabethtown, was killed in the single-vehicle wreck.
