Jerry Lynne Hurst, the Nelson County EMS employee who was arrested for possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia in Washington County in September is no longer employed by the county government.

EMS Director Joe Prewitt said Tuesday Hurst resigned Oct. 10 even though his court case is still pending. He left on his own, said Prewitt and County Judge-Executive Dean Watts.

“He saw the writing on the wall. We were going to do a drug screening on him,” Watts said.

Hurst, 57, of Springfield, was arrested by Kentucky State Police on Sept. 22 at his niece’s home. Jacqueline Hope Hurst, 33, also was arrested on several charges, including trafficking in cocaine and endangering the welfare of a minor.
