Smith had previously entered a guilty plea in all three cases. In each robbery, Smith was sentenced to 10 years for second-degree robbery and five years for tampering with physical evidence, to run concurrently for a total of 10 years.
Smith’s robbery spree began March 13 when he robbed Your Community Bank at 315 North Third Street. He eluded police and robbed Your Community Bank at 106 W. John Rowan Blvd. on April 16. Escaping again, he robbed Wilson and Muir Bank at 101 Culpepper Drive.
Witness accounts and surveillance video helped lead to his capture and he was arrested later that day.
