UPDATE: Milissa Featherstone and James Bonner were indicted Feb. 7, 2018, on complicity to receiving stolen property. Bail for each was set at $9,500 cash only plus conditions, and arraignments were scheduled for Feb. 22.

Two people are in jail in Nelson County after sheriff’s deputies recovered a stolen vehicle from Alabama Saturday.

According to a report from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a message from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama that they were tracking a stolen vehicle going east on the Bluegrass Parkway and provided information about it. They told local law enforcement officers the vehicle had exited onto U.S. 31E and that it was in the parking lot at the FiveStar on New Haven Road.

Sgt. Ramon Pineiroa and Deputy Brandon Bryan apprehended the driver and passenger and detained them without incident.

James Joshua Bonner, 35, of St. Piedmont, Ala., and Jayme Featherstone, 37, of Nashville, Tenn., were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property over $10,000, a Class C felony. The two are lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

The Bardstown Police Department assisted deputies at the scene.

According to a post-arrest complaint filed in the case against Featherstone, the woman told deputies she and Bonner had left the person who rented the vehicle in Tennessee “because they were tired of dealing with him.”

Featherstone and Bonner were scheduled for arraignment in court Tuesday afternoon.
