Man airlifted to hospital, suspect being questioned

UPDATE Friday, 11:40 a.m.: On Thursday, shortly after 3 p.m., the Nelson County Sheriff's Office responded with Nelson County EMS to 1910 Highview Church Road for a report of a stabbing.


According to a press release from the Nelson County Sheriff's Office, an investigation revealed that a male and female live in the residence and have had a history of domestic disputes. Thursday's stabbing involved a domestic dispute. The male was transported by Nelson County EMS to Air Methods which flew him to University Hospital.

Detectives from the Sheriff's Office interviewed the female and are currently waiting to interview the male involved. The Sheriff's Office has conferred with the Nelson County Commonwealth Attorney's Office and the case will be presented to the Nelson County Grand Jury for consideration of charges, if any.

The Nelson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a stabbing that occurred just after 3 p.m. Thursday at 1910 Highview Church Road in Bloomfield.

In a phone call with the Standard Thursday, Nelson County Sheriff Ed Mattingly confirmed that deputies were interviewing a suspect at the scene, and that a man appeared to have suffered a single stab wound that officers believed was not an accident.

The victim, whose name was not released as of press time, was transported by EMS to Spencer County High School, where he was taken to University of Louisville Hospital by Air Methods with substantial blood loss.  

Officers had the home taped off Thursday afternoon while investigating.
