The next public Anatok meeting will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the Old Courthouse.

Planning Commission

The Joint City-County Planning Commission of Nelson County will hold a public hearing and meeting (Agenda No. 499) on Tuesday, April 24, at 6 p.m. at the Old Courthouse Building, second floor, One Court Square in Bardstown, to consider an application to rezone 3.24 acres at 5175 Boston Road; propose to construct a telecommunications tower on the north side of Stringtown Road (Ky. 1858), and propose to construct a telecommunications tower on the north side of East Main Street (Ky. 48). A copy of the applications may be reviewed in the Planning Commission office.

National Music Week

The Stephen Foster Music Club, in conjunction with the National Federation of Music Clubs, will be celebrating National Music Week, May 6-13. The theme for this year’s observance is “Music...The Universal Language”. During that week, music will be provided for residents at Bardstown Health and Rehab, Bluegrass Assisted Living, Signature Healthcare at Colonial, and Windsor Gardens, as well as, several local restaurants. Students from local schools will participate in an art contest portraying the theme of this year’s celebration. Cash awards will be given the winners, and their posters will be displayed in downtown windows.

Ministerial Association

The regular monthly meeting of The Bardstown Nelson County Ministerial Association will be 8:30 a.m. Monday, April 9, at at Mammy’s Kitchen in Bardstown. Classic Corvettes meeting

The Classic Corvettes KY will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, in the conference room at Nolin RECC, 411 Ring Road West in Elizabethtown. A dinner cruise will follow the meeting. Corvette enthusiasts are welcome to come and find out about the club. Plans include contributions to local charities and many fun events. Meet the political cartoonist

Join the Nelson County Democratic Woman’s Club in welcoming Marc Murphy, political cartoonist for the Courier-Journal, at 6 p.m. Monday, April 9, at the Nelson County Public Library. Find out where his inspiration comes from and how his commentary on today’s political landscape affects how we look at our leaders and their actions. Refreshments will be served. Kentucky Public Retirees

The Kentucky Public Retirees/Lincoln Trail Chapter will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 9, at the Golden Corral, 1835 North Dixie Ave., in Elizabethtown. Guest speaker for the meeting will be a representative of the Allegro Senior Living Facility.

Red Cross blood drive

There will be a Red Cross blood drive at the American Legion, Post 121, 206 W. Broadway, noon-5 p.m. Monday, April 16.

Compassionate Friends

The Compassionate Friends will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at St. Thomas Center. Anyone who has lost a child, from any age, is welcome.

Nelson County Board of Adjustment

The Nelson County Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing on Thursday, April 12, at 10 a.m. in the Fiscal Court Room, second floor, Old Courthouse Building, One Court Square in Bardstown, to consider applications for a conditional use permit for an owner-operated specially-skilled woodworking shop at 3683 Roberts Road and for a conditional use permit for a contracting business (asphalt operations) at 1285 and 1335 Dugan Lane. A copy of the applications may be reviewed in the Planning Commission office during normal business hours.

Flaget Hospital Auxiliary scholarships

Flaget Hospital Auxiliary will offer its annual $1,000 college scholarships this spring to local high school seniors who will be pursuing studies in a medical-related field. The scholarship applications are available at each high school or can be picked up at the information desk in the lobby of the hospital. The deadline for admission is April 15
