OKH Middle SBDM Council

OKH Middle SBDM Council will have a special-called meeting at 10 a.m. Friday, June 22, at Old Kentucky Home Middle School in the SBDM room, off the main office. The agenda is as follows: closed session to review/interview candidates, discussion which may lead to appointment personnel.

Hydrant testing program

The City of Bardstown Fire Department’s annual fire hydrant testing program continues Monday, June 25, through Friday, June 29. The Bardstown Fire Department will be testing hydrants throughout the city. The area will include:

Tullamore Subdivision, Filiatreau Lane, Glenwood Drive, near Lowes and Walmart, Culpeper Street, Springfield Road, Eastview Avenue, Parkview Avenue, Loretto Road, My Old Kentucky Home State Park, and East Stephen Foster. During testing, customers in these areas may experience discolored water or air in the lines. Please allow your faucet to run for a few minutes to clear any sediment particles and air bubbles that may have been trapped in your service lines. If discoloration continues, contact City Hall at (502) 348-5947. The Bardstown Fire Department would like to thank its customers for their cooperation during this maintenance program. Healthy living and mobility class for seniors

A healthy living and mobility class for seniors will be 10 a.m.-noon Monday, June 25, at Bardstown Baptist Church Family Life Center 101 W. Brashear Ave. in Bardstown.

NARFE meeting

The next NARFE chapter meeting will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, in the community meeting room of the Nolin RECC building, 411 Ring Road in Elizabethtown. The speaker will be Brad Turner, of Bennett and Bertram on funeral preparedness. For more information, call Sharon Crady at (270) 763-7772.

Whiskey City car cruise

Whiskey City Car Cruisers will have a car cruise from 2 p.m. to dusk Saturday, June 23, at Pizza Hut on KY 245. 50s and 60s music will be featured. For more information, call Rhodie Wheeler at 348-6456.

Nelson County Radio Club

On Saturday, June 23, the Nelson County Radio Club (NCRC) will participate in the American Radio Relay League's (ARRL) annual Field Day demonstration of how amateur radio operators provide emergency radio communications from field sites away from their normal radio station sites. On Saturday NCRC will operate from 2-10 p.m. EST at the electric company's lawn space on the west side of U.S. 31E, south of the Bluegrass Parkway and north of the Nelson County Fairgrounds. Set up will begin at 10 a.m. EST. Operations will begin at 2 p.m. EST and continue until 9 p.m. EST. The national Field Day exercise is the nation's largest demonstration of amateur radio capability. Amateur radio operators are invited to come to the NCRC site and operate with NCRC members. Anyone interested in amateur radio is also invited to visit the site to learn more about amateur radio. Circumstances permitting every effort will be made to have the general public operate with NCRC operators.

Hearing Loss Association

At 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 25, at the Nelson County Public Library, the Hearing Loss Association of America KY Home Chapter will present students from the University of Louisville School of Medicine (Audiology). The students have prepared a Mini Hearing Loss Research Symposium relating to current research on hearing loss. The meeting is free, open to the public and real-time remote captioned. Nelson County Democratic Party

The Nelson County Democratic Party will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at The Rickhouse, 112 Xavier Drive in Bardstown. There will be a recap of the primary election season and discuss plans for the fall. All interested democrats are welcome to attend. Nelson County High School cheerleading tryouts

Nelson County High School cheerleading tryouts will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. July 9 and 10 for the clinic with tryouts on July 11. The tryouts are open to any one who will be in the Nelson County High School District eighth through the 12th grade for the 2018-19 school year. A current physical is required to try out. Bardstown Board of Adjustment

Bardstown Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, July 3, at 5 p.m. in the Fiscal Court Room, second floor, Old Courthouse Building, One Court Square in Bardstown to consider an application to amend the conditions of approval for a heavy/hazardous industrial use (distillery and warehouse operation) to allow an increase from 6 to 9 warehouses at 1500 Parkway Drive.

Community Dance Blue

The Nelson County Community DanceBlue will be Sept. 8, at Thomas Nelson High School in Bardstown. This is a 12-hour dance marathon that will last from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and feature a live performance section, as well as a variety of activities that correspond with several different themes. Dinner is included with every ticket purchase. Tickets can be purchased at the following link:

Airport Board Meeting Change
