UPDATED: Bardstown man arrested for sex charges involving minor

UPDATE: Michael Scott was indicted by a Nelson County Grand Jury July 20 on sex charges involving a minor. The charges listed on the indictment are first-degree sexual abuse (defendent over 21, victim under 16), possesison of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, and tampering with physical evidence. Those charges differ slightly from what he was orginally charged with after his arrest. Scott's bail was set at $100,000 cash, plus conditions. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court Aug. 4.

A Bardstown was arrested this week after officers learned he had taken inappropriate pictures of a minor.

According to a uniform citation completed by the Bardstown Police Department, 37-year-old Michael Lynn Scott is accused of using a cell phone to take pictures of a juvenile’s private parts and then touching the child.

According to the report, the cell phone has been collected as evidence. The offense reportedly took place Saturday. Scott was arrested on Monday and is currently charged with possession/viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, second-degree sodomy and tampering with physical evidence. The tampering charge, according to the citation, stems from Scott reportedly trying to hide the cell phone when officers visited the residence.  

Scott was arraigned in court Tuesday and plead not guilty to the charges against him. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.

Scott has a minor criminal history in Nelson, including second-degree disorderly conduct.
