Bardstown man arrested for assault, unlawful imprisonment

Police say a Bardstown man beat and held his girlfriend against her will, and the woman suffered bite marks on her face, arm and body along with numerous injuries to her face.  
Bardstown Police reported Monday that their discovery of the alleged assault stemmed from an incident last Wednesday ,when 27-year-old Donald Lee Howard Jr. of Bardstown had reportedly cut the arm of a 16-year-old male juvenile during an altercation. The wound required stitches.
According to a press release from the Bardstown Police Department, Howard fled from that scene prior to their arrival. The investigation led officers to locate Howard Monday at 136 Barberry Lane, which is not his place of residence.
During this portion of the investigation, it was discovered that Howard had allegedly beaten his girlfriend and would not let her leave. Police also discovered the injuries to her face, arm and body, according to the release.
The woman was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment. Howard was arrested and lodged in the Nelson County Jail after being with two counts of second-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree criminal trespassing.
Officers located suspected methamphetamine at the residence with Howard’s belongings. The investigation is continuing.
Howard has a related criminal history in Nelson County including disorderly conduct, trespassing, assault and drug possession.
