Two men who robbed WesBanco Bank on North Third Street at different times in 2018 were each indicted by a Nelson County grand jury Wednesday on second-degree robbery charges.

Kevin Mahana, 50, of Bardstown, is accused of robbing the bank Nov. 16 and was charged with the crime in December while in custody in Hardin County for a separate robbery accusation involving Gatti’s Pizza in Elizabethtown.

A few weeks after the bank was held up by Mahana, it was robbed again by a different man, 39-year-old Ledrick Shontay Edwards, who was arrested and charged about a week later with the help of nearby surveillance video.

The robbery by Edwards made at least the fourth time the bank location had been robbed. The bank was also targeted in March 2015 and December 2014 while under different companies.

According to Wednesday’s indictments, Mahana’s bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions. Edwards’ bail was set at $100,000 cash only, as he was also charged as a first-degree persistent felony offender. Edwards was previously convicted of second-degree robbery for holding up a bank in Springfield in 2008 and was paroled in that case a few months prior to the WesBanco robbery. He was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a handgun and for flagrant non-support.

Both men will be arraigned on the charges Jan. 24.
