  • GOLF: Trail Card available for Ky. State Park courses
    The Kentucky State Parks Golf Trail is offering something new for golfers in 2011. A Golf Discount Card is being sold at all 18 courses at Kentucky State Parks, including the My Old Kentucky Home State Park course here in Bardstown. The cards provide substantially discounted fees that include cart. The cards are course specific and can be purchased for $20-$25. A cardholder receives four discounted rounds including cart and the fifth round is free. 
  • GOLF: Proper-fitting clubs a necessity
    Editor’s Note: This is the first of our new regular weekly column by local golf experts designed to help golfers shave strokes off their game, as well as highlight important goings-on in the world of golf.   April is PGA Free Fitting and Trade-Up month. PGA Professionals throughout the country are providing free 15-minute equipment-fitting sessions. We here at Maywood are participating in this national campaign. 
  • Trail cards available for 2011 at state park courses
    FRANKFORT — The best golf in Kentucky is now available at the 18 courses operated by the Kentucky Department of Parks. For 2011, the Kentucky Golf Trail is again offering a “trail card” that provides unlimited paid greens fees for the cardholder.
  • Local team headed to Tenn. tourney
    A group of 22 players from four different U8 teams in the Bardstown-Nelson County Youth Football League are making their way to Knoxville, Tenn., this morning to participate in one of the top youth football tournaments in the country. The Battle In Rocky Top Youth Football Classic features about 250 teams from 20 states in various age divisions. The U8 division has about 40 teams, said Bardstown Raiders coach Jason Floyd.
  • NCYSA Tryouts
    The Nelson County Youth Soccer Association is holding tryouts for select league teams in various age groups. There have been some changes since the original publishing of this article in the Wednesday, Nov. 3 edition of The Kentucky Standard. Please double-check to make sure no changes have been made to your team’s tryout schedule. When attending tryouts, players should bring a ball, shin guards, cleats and a water bottle.
