Nelson County and Washington County arranged a third meeting of the season night with opening-round wins Tuesday in the girls’ 19th District tournament at Bardstown High School.

The Cardinals opened the evening against Bethlehem with an emphatic 79-48 win, using a 16-4 run to close out the first half and cruising from there in ending the Banshees’ season.

Nelson County (23-6) got 17 points from Cierra Drake and 15 more from Ashley Wimsett in the win. A.J. Lewis added 10.
