  • Reader thankful for New Haven fire's response

    To the editor:

Concerning a trailer fire, I give the New Haven Fire Department an ‘A’ rating and the Elizabethtown 9-11 an ‘F.’

The reason for the ‘F’ rating for the Elizabethtown 9-11 is they never did make it to the fire because they were lost. I called 9-11 from a cell phone and I did not know it would go to Elizabethtown, which had to notify Hodgenville EMS which in turn had to call New Haven Fire Department.

When I called 9-11 I gave them my name and the address of the fire at 2605 Icetown Road.

  • Reader supports Bethlehem principal

    To the editor:

All of the media reports of the citation issued to Dr. Paul Schum are so one-sided in their coverage, I am compelled to write in support of Paul. This letter is not directed to the many people who know Paul, but to everyone who has not had the chance to meet him.

  • Optimist Club offers opportunities for young

    To the editor:

There are so many wonderful clubs and organizations that do so much for our community. Every one of these clubs have caring people that see beyond their own immediate lives and give of their own time and treasures in the service of others.

Optimist International is one such club and voted this last July to explore joint efforts with like-minded International clubs such as Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis. That’s fantastic news for our local children.

  • Former Bardstonian wants to see preservation

    To the editor:

As a former Bardstonian, born and raised, I love to come back to the history and small town charm that Bardstown has to offer. When I drive down Third Street and still see people I know after eight years, it still gives me that feeling that Bardstown is a place to be missed. It is still a place to brag about to friends who have never heard of “a small town outside Louisville.”
