Some of the tools Nelson County Jail inmates recently stole and hid in a cell included a saw blade, drill bits and other sharp instruments, which caused some safety concerns at the Nelson County Justice Center.
Inmates break out of cell, steal tools

Prisoners of the Nelson County Jail broke out of one cell and into another where they stole a maintenance worker’s tools and hid them from jail deputies last week.

Nelson County Jailer Dorcas Figg confirmed Friday that an unknown number of inmates forced the door of their cell open and gained access to a cell next door, where they stole a saw blade, drill bits, screwdrivers and other tools that could be used as weapons.

She was not sure when it happened, but estimated it happened sometime Tuesday night. The tools were recovered Thursday morning, she said.
