On April 28, expectant moms and dads will have the opportunity to learn vital information about pregnancy, and about infant and toddler care, at the Flaget Baby Fair. This free event is put on every year by the staff of the Flaget Birth Center. This year the fair will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Flaget Hospital campus off KY 245.

 LeTerrian’s Playground, 1315 N. Third St., Bardstown, KY 40004 is a participant in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program administered by the Kentucky Department of Education.

Since Dr. Rob Farrell, Nelson County’s first bariatric (weight-loss) and general surgeon, became a member of Flaget Memorial Hospital’s health care team, I’ve been doing some research on the effects of obesity. It’s clear that excess weight can harm your health. What we often don’t consider is how harmful negative attitudes about obesity can be to an overweight person.

Farrell will outline the difficulties obese people face during his next weight-loss seminar, which will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 at Flaget Hospital.
