  • Nelson County/Bardstown Schools closed Feb. 12

    Nelson County Schools are closed Monday, Feb. 12. It will be an NYI/Best Day. Child care remains open.

    Bardstown City Schools are also closed Monday.

  • Bethlehem speech team named regional champs

    Bethlehem High School Speech Team walked away with the win Saturday for the Louisville Regionals held in LaRue County. Coach Jenny Neel, in announcing the victory on Facebook, said she was proud of the students and that they worked hard. Neel said this was the second consecutive regional win for the team since Carter Lasure pioneered and led the team.

    In addition to the overall team win, several students were also announced as individual winners.

  • BCS superintendent position advertised

    With a goal of naming a new superintendent before the end of the school year, the position for Bardstown City Schools was posted to the Kentucky Association of School Administrators’ website Tuesday and an application deadline has been set for March 1.

    The post to KASA’s website includes information about the district such as the number of students and schools, as well as a job description.

    Update: As of Thursday, morn that 600 shirts had been sold to supporters as far away as Pennsylvania.

    Jaden Kennedy, a Foster Heights Elementary School fourth-grader and basketball player, was involved in a tragic car accident over the weekend. With Jaden hospitalized to recover from his injuries, his teammates, opponents and members of the community have gathered to show their support.

  • Malone makes Dean’s List at Aurora University

    Aurora University has named Alexis Malone of Bardstown, to the Dean’s List for the fall 2017 semester. Malone is majoring in nursing. The Dean’s List recognizes full-time undergraduate students who have earned a 3.6 GPA or higher. Malone also earned a perfect 4.0.

  • Local students named to Brescia University Dean’s List

    The following students from Brescia University were named to the Fall 2017 Dean’s List for completing 12 credit hours with a 3.5 grade-point average.

    • Bardstown: Toni Keeling, freshman, English with an emphasis in professional writing, pre-law studies; Daniel Steele, sophomore, accounting.

    • Lebanon Junction: Kassi Gilbert, senior, secondary biology, chemistry.

  • Bradford named to Dean’s List

    Sarah Carlisle Bradford, 19, was named to the fall Dean’s List at Huntington University in Huntington, Ind. She graduated from high school in 2016.

    The Dean’s List Honors designation is given at the end of each semester to those students who have been enrolled full-time with a load of 12 hours or more in graded courses, earning at least 42 grade points with a semester GPA of at least 3.50.

    She is the daughter of John and Luci Bradford, of Bardstown.

  • Local students named to President’s List at Campbellsville University

    The academic honors President’s List for the Fall 2017 semester has been announced by Dr. Donna Hedgepath, Campbellsville University’s provost and vice president for academic affairs.

  • Shrewsbury named to Dean’s List at Samford

    Mary H. Shrewsbury, of Bardstown, was named to the fall 2017 Dean’s List at Samford University. Shrewsbury is a Senior Comm Sciences and Disorders major.

    To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework.

    Dean’s List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.
