  • Man indicted after escaping from police cruiser

    A Chaplin man was indicted in Nelson Circuit Court Wednesday after escaping a Sheriff’s Department cruiser and fleeing the scene of an alleged domestic violence incident.

    The Nelson County Sheriff’s Department was called to the Chaplin home of David A. Long, 36, about 1:30 a.m. on or about April 3, where Long had allegedly pulled a woman down stairs and caused an abrasion on her arm, according to the indictment.

    The following people were sentenced recently in Nelson Circuit Court. All had previously entered a plea of guilty or had been found guilty during a criminal trial. Unless otherwise stated, all jail sentences are served concurrently.

  • Two indicted for burglary, theft

    Kendra K. Ditto,19, and Darrian D. Ellery, 18, who were arrested March14 for allegedly attempting to break into an apartment and for several alleged car break-ins, were indicted on identical charges Wednesday in Nelson Circuit Court.

  • Sentencing trial No. 3 set for Bardstown man’s killer

    SHEPHERDSVILLE — The legal proceedings to hold the sentencing phase for a convicted killer will be held for a third time in Bullitt County.

    Michael St. Clair, who was convicted of the 1991 murder of Bardstown resident Francis Brady, will stand trial once again in Bullitt Circuit Court.

    Beginning April 13, the jury members will not decide upon the guilt or innocence of St. Clair; they will look at what type of penalty the Oklahoma resident should serve.
