  • Lawsuit filed in May crash that killed three

    Legal action has been filed against the truck driver involved in a May fatal collision that claimed three lives, as well as the driver’s employer and an insurance company.

    According to a civil complaint filed in Nelson Circuit Court Tuesday, the victims’ family is suing Richie B. Warren, Alford Hawkins Morris and Kentucky Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company to recover compensatory and punitive damages.

  • Judge recuses self from Roby lawsuit

    The judge presiding over the wrongful termination and defamation case filed by a former Bardstown cop against the city recused himself Wednesday and then offered to testify.

    Nelson Circuit Judge Charles Simms stepped aside after attorneys defending the city argued he should because of past discussions the judge had with police leadership where the judge aired his concern about the actions of a former police officer.

  • Woman involved in infant death faces more charges

    The mother of a baby boy who drowned in a bathtub last summer was indicted Wednesday on additional drug charges.

    In March, Stejeta Williams, 39, of Bardstown, was indicted on a reckless homicide charge for the death of the 7-month-old, as well as charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, marijuana and methamphetamine. On Wednesday, an amended indictment was issued to add a charge of first-degree persistent felony offender, with bail remaining at $50,000 cash only, plus conditions.

  • Man indicted on 71 counts of theft from Armag

    A Nelson County grand jury amended an indictment Wednesday against a Bardstown man to include 71 counts of theft from his former employer.

    Joshua Price, 38, was indicted on 69 separate charges of complicity to theft by unlawful taking under $10,000 and two counts of complicity to theft by unlawful taking under $1 million for allegedly stealing metal and then selling it to a scrap yard to pay for his gambling losses.

    The indictments state the alleged crimes happened between 2013 and May 2016.
