A car driven by a suspect in a high-speed chase burns near the intersection of the Bluegrass Parkway and I-65 South Friday around 9 a.m. Police say the suspect, Herbert McGowan, who is believed to have stabbed a woman in Bardstown, set the fire intentionally by pouring gasoline and igniting it while he was in the car. No one was reported injured from the chase, which stretched more than 25 miles. McGowan was treated for burns.
Friday morning chase ends in flames

A Friday morning high-speed chase stretched from Bardstown to the Bluegrass Parkway on-ramp to southbound Interstate 65, where it ended in flames that police say were set by the driver being pursued.

Police said they believe the man, Herbert McGowan, was involved in a stabbing at a convenience store in Bardstown.

At around 8 a.m. Friday, deputies were dispatched to 1151 Bloomfield Road, across from Nelson County High School, on a report of someone possibly struck by a vehicle. Witnesses reported someone had jumped from a moving black Chevrolet Impala.
