    Minnie Frances Wheeler. 96, Bardstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Colonial Health and Rehab, Bardstown. She was the former Minnie Frances Mudd, a native of Bloomfield, a retired Cook, a member of the First Baptist Church of Bardstown, a mother of the church, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in California.

    She was the daughter of the late She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Wheeler; her parents, William Joseph and Bertha Ann Hays Mudd; two brothers, Charles Mudd and William Mudd Jr.; and two nieces, Barbra and Mary Elizabeth Mudd.

  • William Paul Holbert, 80

    William Paul Holbert, 80, Lyons Station, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at his residence. He was a Baptist by faith and a member of Rolling Fork Baptist Church. He retired from American Air Filter in Louisville, was an United States Army Veteran and an avid gardener.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Kennedy Holbert; two grandchildren, Sara Lynn Holbert and Justin Ross Holbert; and his parents, Joseph Elmer and Rhoda Redmon Holbert.

    Devola Humes Hagan, 78, Louisville, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Norton Audubon Hospital.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Rastis Sparrow and Kathryn Hood.

    Survivors include her husband, William Hagan; and a son, Timmy Humes.

    The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Houghlin Funeral Home, Bloomfield, with burial in Highview Cemetery, Chaplin. Bro. Terry Burkhead officiated.

    Houghlin Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

  • Juanita Stone Sharp, 86,

    Juanita Stone Sharp, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Windsor Gardens Nursing Home, Bardstown, with her family at her side.  A native of Bardstown, she had returned in recent years after living most of her life in Louisville.

    She dedicated her life to her family as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was a lifelong member of Shawnee Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and a member of St. George Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

    Richard T. Falls, 89, Bardstown, formerly of Louisville, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital.

    He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Survivors include two daughters, Judy Blanton, Bardstown, and Melissa Falls, LaFayette, Tenn.

    The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Bethany Memorial Cemetery, Louisville.

    Visitation with the family is noon-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

    Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Verna Mae Greenwell, 92, Bardstown, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at her residence. She was born Jan. 20, 1920, in St. Francis, formerly Chicago, Ky. She was the past owner of Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home and is presently a partner at Bardstown Country Club “Maywood and Woodlawn Golf Courses” and is a member of the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. “Jimmy” Greenwell; two sons, James B. “Jim” Greenwell, Jr. and J.I. Greenwell; and her parents, Joseph Hugh and Anna Knott Smith.

    Gayle Elizabeth March Sidebottom Newton, 51, Vine Grove, formerly of Hodgenville, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. She was born July 12, 1960, and was a member of the Christian faith. She was self-employed painter, Gayle’s Painting, and a veteran of the United States Army after several years of service with a ranking of E5.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Hamilton March.

    Wilodean K. Robertson, 82, Lebanon Junction, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at her residence.

    Survivors include her children, Donna R. Ruble, Bowling Green, Paula Robertson, Mount Washington, Joyce Pedigo, Boston, Patricia Bischoff, Shepherdsville, Ronnie Harrod, Pleasureville, Buford “Andy” Robertson, Mount Washington and Barry Robertson, Lebanon Junction.

    The funeral is 7 p.m. Tuesday with cremation to follow at Kappel Funeral Home, Lebanon Junction.

    Visitation is 1-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

  • Lydia Beatrice Barnes, 84

    Lydia Beatrice Barnes, 84, Bardstown, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at her home in Bardstown.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nora Pugh.

    Survivors include a son, Larry Fulkerson, Bardstown.

    The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Kappel Funeral Home, Boston, with burial to follow in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Deatsville. The Rev. Daryll Goodlett will officiate.

    Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

  • Lt. Col. (retired) Donald Goodin, 76

    Lt. Col. (Retired) Donald Dean Goodin, 76, Boston, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at his residence. A native of Beardstown, Ill., he served four years in the United States Army and 26 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired president of San Bernardino Valley Water District with 16 years of service, a director for Nelson County Air Board and attended Youngers Creek Baptist Church. He was also a Mason and a Shriner.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Lewis and Helen Louise Phillips Goodin; and one brother Ronald Lee Goodin.
