    The funeral for Carole D. Wimsatt, 47, Bardstown, was 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Nelson Christian Church, with burial in Big Spring Cemetery, Bloomfield. Dr. Tom Mobley and Dr. David Jeffares officiated.Pallbearers were John Rodgers, Eric Cecil, Jonathon Hughes, Josh Eversole, John Cox, Mathew Mudd, Scott Coombs and Eric Thompson.Memorial contributions may go to donor’s favorite charity.Barlow Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Mary “Bea” Culver, 87, Huntington, Ind., died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Parkview Huntington Hospital. She was born on March 19, 1920, in Nelson County. She retired from Essex Wire in Andrews, Ind., in 1977, where she worked as a machine operator. She attended Bible Baptist Church in Huntington, Ind., and volunteered in food service at the Huntington Senior Center.

  • Joseph Alvin Wells Sr., 79

    Joseph Alvin Wells Sr., 79, Fairfield, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Kindred Hospital, Louisville. He was a native of Fairfield, and a retired construction worker for Sullivan and Cozart Construction Company. He was a former employee of General Electric and a member of Fairfield Second Baptist Church.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Eureth Lewis Sis Wells; a son, Joseph A Wells Jr.; and his parents John and Mattie Sheckles Wells.

    Justin Matthew Matt Mattingly, 15, Springfield, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at his residence.

    He was born Sept. 21, 1992, in Marion County. He was a 10th grader at Washington County High School. He enjoyed playing drums and working on cars.

    He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Herbert Lee Mattingly and paternal grandfather, Elias Alvin Mattingly.

    Mary Bea Culver, 87, Huntington, Ind., died. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

    She retired from Essex Wire in Andrews in 1977, where she worked as a machine operator. She attended Bible Baptist Church in Huntington and volunteered in food service at the Huntington Senior Center. She was born on March 19, 1920, in Nelson County. She married John William Culver in Nelson County Sept. 24, 1940.

    Joe M. Cox Sr., 79, Taylorsville, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Norton Audubon Hospital. Born in Spencer County, he was a farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Lee and Sara Iona Wood Cox.

    Survivors include two sons, Joe Cox Jr., Southville, and Ricky Cox, Finchville; three grandchildren; a brother, Herbert Cox, Mount Washington; and five sisters, Lurlean McPherson and Margaret Mathis, both of Eminence, Flora Ellen Foster, Bardstown, Geneva Nutgrass, Mount Washington, and Bonnie Bodine, Louisville.

  • Evelyn N. Arnold, 81

    Evelyn N. Arnold, 81, Bardstown, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 27, 1926, in Kansas City, Kan., and was a homemaker.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Arnold; her parents, Maraion and Matilda Schneider Schlicht; and a brother, Robert Schlicht.

    Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Riddle, Bardstown, and Barbara Childers, Austin, Texas; and two brothers, William Schlicht and Jack Schlicht, both of Kansas City, Kan.

    Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be at a later date.

  • William Russell Miles, 78

    Mass of Christian burial for William Russell Miles, 78, Icetown, was 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, New Haven, with burial in St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jeffrey P. Leger officiated.

    Pallbearers were grandsons, David Douglas, Ricky Douglas, Russell Miles, Brad Miles, Jason Miles, Kevin Miles, Taylor Wimsett, Cameron Wimsett and Chandler Wimsett.
