  • Eric Thomas Sturgill, 37

    Eric Thomas Sturgill, 37, Louisville, formerly of Lebanon Junction, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Norton-Audubon Hospital, Louisville.

    Survivors include his children, Quinten Sturgill and Serena Sturgill, both of Louisville; and his parents, Tommy and Sadalia Sturgill, Lebanon Junction.

    The funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Lebanon Junction with burial in Lebanon Junction City Cemetery.

    Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kappel Funeral Home, Lebanon Junction.

  • Joseph Ralph Hornback, 75

    Joseph Ralph Hornback, 75, Lexington, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012.

    Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lyvers Hornback.

    The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

    Visitation is 2-7 p.m. Wednesday at

  • Pauline Bunch Admire-Dougherty, 81

    Pauline Bunch Admire-Dougherty, 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012. She was born Aug. 16, 1930.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, James G. Dougherty and former husband Lawrence E. Admire; her parents, John Samuel and Esther Clark Bunch; three sisters, Virginia Lee, Barbara Jean and Doris Ann; and two brothers, Joseph Ralph Bunch, and David Anthony Bunch.

  • Heather A. Oakley, 41

    Heather A. Oakley, 41, Nokomis, Fla., formerly of Elkhart, Ind., died Jan. 4, 2012, after a brief illness. She was born May 26, 1970, in Elkhart, Ind., and graduated from Keiser University with a degree in paralegal studies. She was employed for several years as a paralegal assistant for several Florida-based law offices and she also worked for Keiser University. She loved all animals.

  • James Elmer Rountree, 97

    James Elmer Rountree, 97, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012. He was retired from American Tobacco Company, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Bardstown, and a former member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Fern Creek for 58 years.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Genevieve Rountree; a son, James Donald Rountree; a granddaughter, Melissa Croghan; his parents, Floyd and Anna Borden Rountree; and two brothers, Edwin Rountree and Everett Rountree.

  • Michael David “Mike” Edmiston, 60

    Michael David “Mike” Edmiston, 60, Springfield, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at this home. Born Oct. 15, 1951, in Siloam Springs, Ark., to Leonard Wayne Edmiston and Mildred Mae Powers. He and his family moved to Springfield in 1995. He worked at Springfield Products until 1999. He worked at Tower Automotive in Bardstown from 1999 until his death.

  • Margaret Delores Abell West, 91

    Margaret Delores Abell West, 91, Loretto, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at her residence.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Ernest and Nettie Mae Mattingly Abell.

    Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Ann Perkins and Barbara Thomason, both of Louisville, Linda Lee, Raywick; and a son, Charles West, Lebanon,

    Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Raywick, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. James W. Graf will be the celebrant.

  • Leonard Lee “Shorty Hard Rock” Hardin, 79

    Leonard Lee “Shorty Hard Rock” Hardin, 79, Hodgenville, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Norton-Brownsboro Hospital, Louisville. He was a native of Shelbyville, Ind., a retired maintenance worker for Gamble Brothers, Louisville, and a member The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Bardstown.

    He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Ann Hardin; a son, Charles Alan Hardin; his parents, Arthur and Katie Hardin; and four brothers, Holbert Hardin, James Hardin, Chester Hardin and Eugene Hardin.

  • Jennie Ava “Jen” Miller Harned, 99,

    Jennie Ava “Jen” Miller Harned, 99, formerly of Lyons Station, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, Hodgenville.   

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Joshua and Rebecca Stiles Miller.

    The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Rolling Fork Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Bruce Nichols will officiate.

    Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.
