  • Mary Catherine “Katie” Barnes, 77

    Mary Catherine “Katie” Barnes, 77, Bardstown, died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Norton Audubon Hospital, Louisville. She was the former Mary Catherine Harrell, a native of Nelson County, a retired employee at Inonac Packing, and a member of The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

    She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Wright; her parents, John E. and Della Case Harrell; nine brothers; and two sisters.

    Kodie Wayne McCubbins, infant/newborn, Elizabethtown, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown.

    Survivors include his parents, Tausha and Matthew Wayne McCubbins, Elizabethtown.

    A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lebanon Junction City Cemetery.

    Kappel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

  • William Arnold Bickett, 56

    William Arnold Bickett, 56, Raywick, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, in Raywick.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Eugene Bickett and his daughter, Brandy Nicole Bickett.

    Survivors include his mother, Leora Mattingly Bickett, Raywick; and his son, Tony Bickett, Bardstown.

    Graveside Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery, Raywick. The Rev. James W. Graf will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

    Thomas Elijah Godesa, infant, Lawrenceburg, was stillborn Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

    He is survived by his parents, Mike and Sherry Newton Godesa, Lawrenceburg.

    Graveside services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Manton. The Rev. Chris Allegra will officiate. His brother, Jaxon Godesa will serve as pallbearer

  • Bruce Atcheson Barber, 66

    Bruce Atcheson Barber, 66, Bardstown, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerard G. Barber and Mary “Baba” Robinson.

    Survivors include his wife, Nathalie Barber, Bardstown; a son, Morgan Barber, Portland, Oregon; a daughter, Kate Barber Shortelle, Pembroke, Mass.; and a stepdaughter, Amaelle Alami, Bardstown.

    Cremation was chosen with a private burial in Madison, Conn., at a later date. 

    Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

  • David F. Stump, 72

    David F. Stump, 72, Mount Washington, died March 16, 2012, at Baptist East Hospital, Louisville. He was a welder for Ziniz, a Baptist, Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 157.

    Survivors include his wife, Donna Stump; his children, David A. Stump, Pamela Sue (Stephen) McClain, Audrey Dionne (Brian) Shaw, Deonna Stargel (Kevin) Colvin, Daniel R. (Gina) Stargel; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Paul L. Stump.

    The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Scharrer Hardy-Close Funeral Home with burial in Highland Memory Gardens.

  • Bessie Richardston Ashbaugh, 94

    Bessie Richardston Ashbaugh, 94, a long-time resident of High Grove, died Thursday, March 22, 2012. She was a store clerk for more than 40 years, having worked at a dime store in Louisville in the 1930s, Ruth Hays Grocery in High Grove, Brown’s IGA in Mount Washington, and the High Grove Grocery. She had been a member of Riverview Baptist Church for 77 years.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Ashbaugh; her parents, Arch and Anna Lee Emerson Richardson; a sister, Pearl Stump; and a son-in-law, Billy G. Cook.

  • Shawna Renee Ebrecht, 37

    Shawna Renee Ebrecht, 37, Bardstown, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was the former Shawna Renee Helm, a native of Louisville, a homemaker, and was of the Baptist faith. 

    She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Steven Helm.

    Wendell “Glen” Henon, 43, Louisville, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at his residence.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lee “Bill” Henon, Jr. and Dorothy “Dot” Robey Henon.

    Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Francis, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant.

  • Dorothy Newton Comer Boone Filiatreau, 97

    Dorothy Newton Comer Boone Filiatreau, 97, Hodgenville, formerly of Bardstown, and Howardstown, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. She was born Jan. 29, 1915, in Holy Cross. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Hodgenville. She was a retired nurse’s aide at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown, after many years of service.
