  • As some folks know, I had back surgery mid-November at a large, busy Louisville hospital. The reputation of the neurosurgeon and orthopedic surgeon who worked on my back is tops, which is why I chose them. Although recovery is slow, it looks like the surgery went well. • Back in late March of 2004 I saw my first salamander outside of a zoo. She was in the garage during a warm, rainy night looking strangely exotic. She was glistening with moisture and spotted — and she was really big. It sort of freaked me out at the time because I did not know what she was.

  • Meet Charlie Wilson. In the 1980s he had been re-elected by his constituency in rural Texas. He is the stereotypical ole boy politician. He drinks too much; he takes too many kickbacks, and in general, he barely has enough on which to live. Not a pretty picture. Then how does this nobody politician get the Russians kicked out of Afghanistan and helps topple the Berlin wall?

  • Some memos will be marked [Unpreviewed]. This means that I have not seen the film. Any information about the film content is taken from press releases, Web sites and other sources. The “Family Rating” is mainly taken from the Web site filmratings.com.
